Democratic Republic Of Congo
The telecommunication regulation authority in the Democratic Republic of Congo has directed all the communication operators to restore the previous tariffs on internet.
The prices of data among the main operators of telephones in the country have doubled and tripled within a short time making it difficult for some consumers to afford them.
Some sources have indicated that already some operators have adjusted the cost as required by the government.
On the other hand, mobile network operators said they were not to be blamed as pressure from taxes had forced them to adjust their prices.
Some consumers in DRC had suspected authorities of planning to prevent citizens from exchanging information regarding the upcoming election as reason for the surge in internet cost.
